Back to Normal

Hi everyone! We hope that each of you had a great Christmas! We spent a nice relaxing day at home. We cooked dinner and just enjoyed being at home without having the worry of "being somewhere"! lol We have "went" so much this Holiday season. It was fun but tiring at the same time. The "going" is not all over yet though!
We are planning on visiting some relatives in the mountains of North Carolina tomorrow. We made them a homemade orange fruit cake.I am sure they will enjoy it.The cake made the kitchen smell SO good with all of the orange zest and juices going on. Our Christmas decorations are being taken down and stored away in the attic as I type. For some reason it is always nice to get back to "normal" in the sense of decor, when the time comes to take everything down. Not that we didn't enjoy it while it was there! (:
Just thought we'd update to let you all know what we've been up to.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

The colors on your blog are so pretty. Those flowers are just gorgeous!

It's nice to have things slow down a bit, isn't it? I'm glad you had a good Christmas.

Love you,
~Mrs. Kristi

Homemade Orange Fruitcake? I don't think I have ever heard of that before... We make allot of traditional English food here for Christmas; shortbread, fruit mince pies, normal fruitcake, Christmas puddings etc. Could I trouble you for a copy of your orange fruit cake recipe? Any pictures?

Hi Laura,
Thank you for visiting us and leaving a comment! We would love to give you the recipe, except for the reason that it really has never been written dow before since the recipe we use is an old family heirloom. Here is a link to one that is similar http://www.askyourneighbor.com/recipes/256.htm
For that particular recipe that we made for our relatives we didn't use candy but we do have a recipe in which you do use the candys.

Hope that is good enough for you!
Sorry we didn't take any pictures of it. We should have though. It turned out really nicely.
